Open Agentathon - Creating AI innovation

On 17 November 2025, the first Open Agentathon took place, organised by the Future Lab Generative AI and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg in cooperation with our Innovators Club.

Over 50 participants took part. As solo fighters or together as a team. Nine teams met on site at BTU in starting block B2, including students from the Artificial Intelligence Technology study programme, start-ups from the region and people interested in AI. The rest joined online from all over Germany, Switzerland and even Australia.

Functional AI agents were created in just a few hours. A hackathon centred around tools such as n8n, Manus, Whaaat.ai, LangChain, OpenWebUI, ChatGPT and Mistral. The work phase was followed by 60-second pitches in which the agents were presented. Which problem should be tackled by them and how was the agent technically implemented.

Agents were presented for very different areas of life. From digital legal assistance and financial planning to language learning tools and an interactive Moodle platform. After the official part of the Agentathon was over, the participants took the opportunity to network, discuss their ideas in more detail or exchange ideas with the Innovators Club.

The Agentathon shows the potential that Lusatia has in the field of AI and how students, start-ups, professionals and the curious can work together to create real innovation. Many thanks to all participants and supporters! We are excited to see how the numerous ideas will be further developed and look forward to the next Agentathon!
