Our university has cooperative partnerships with more than 160 universities in 53 different countries. Some of our partner universities offer summer schools that cover a wide-range of themes. In addition to technical subject matter, the summer schools also offer a number of cultural events so that students can get to know their host country better.
This is your chance to use your summer break to improve your personal and professional skills, improve a foreign language, meet people from all over the world, or simply get a closer look at a potential exchange university.

Summer Schools 2017
- Austria: Graz University of Technology

Together with the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, USA, Graz University of Technology is organising a summer school on the topic “Food Science and Culinary Arts to Maximize Food Quality”.
Offering lectures from well-known industry professionals such as food trend expert, Hanni Rützler and the highly decorated Austrian chef, Johann Reisinger, the summer school is guaranteed to be first-class. Topics to be addressed during this summer school include food analysis and microbiology, foodstuffs testing, taste investigation, food chemistry and global food trends.

- China: Tongji University

The Tongji University in Shanghai, formerly the German Medical School for Chinese, was founded in 1907 and has two campuses. In 1927, it became a state university and was renamed to Tongji. Currently, more than 50,000 students study at the Siping campus in the inner city and Jiading campus, located outside of the city centre.
Together with the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico), Tongji University is organising a Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) focusing on the theme “FOOD – Solve the global food challenge!”.

- Finland: University of Eastern Finland

In 2010, the University of Joensuu and University of Kuopio merged to create the University of Eastern Finland (UEF). Offering more than 100 courses in four faculties and with nearly 15,000 enrolled students, UEF is one of the largest universities in Finland.
The two campuses in Joensuu and Kuopio are offering summer schools in the following areas:

- France: Université d'Angers

Located in the heart of the Loire Valley and a mere 90 minute train ride to Paris is the UNESCO World Heritage city of Angers. The University of Angers (UA) has more than 22,000 enrolled students and seven different faculties, schools and institutes with over 400 courses of study.

- „Go East" Summer Schools- Scholarships

With the “Go East” initiative, the DAAD is hoping to promote more students from Germany to undertake study and research stays in the countries of Central, Southeast and Eastern Europe, as well as the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The DAAD awards scholarships to German students (under certain circumstances, students with foreign nationality may also be eligible to apply for a scholarship) to attend one of the 56 approved summer schools covering different subject areas in the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine

- Italy: The Università Iuav di Venezia
Programme dates Application deadlines Fees 26.06.17 - 14.07.17 30.04.2017 500 EUR course fees (waived for Syrian students)
Founded in 1926, the Università Iuav di Venezia is one of the first architecture schools in Italy. It is a themed university focused on design and organised into three departments: Architecture, Construction and Conservation; Design and Planning in Complex Environments; and, Architecture and Arts. The university currently has about 5,000 enrolled students.
Together with the UN ESCWA (United Nations Economic and Social Commissions for Western Asia), the Università Iuav di Venezia is organsing the WAVE 2017 Summer School Workshop under the title ‘Reconstruction in Post-War Syria’. The main thematic areas of the workshop are housing, heritage, public space and infrastructure.

- Poland: Wroclaw University of Science and Technology

The Wrocław University of Science and Technology (PL. Politechnika Wrocławska) is the leading science and education centre in Poland. It emerged from the German Royal Technical College in Breslau and Lviv Polytechnic in 1945. Today, the Wrocław University of Science and Technology has over 33,000 students, 16 faculties and 33 study programmes.
Interested students can choose a course from the 3E+ (energy, environment, electronics) Summer School:
- Civil engineering: Quality control and technical evaluation of building and civil engineering structures

Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) is located in St. Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia. Known in Russia and worldwide as simply the Polytechnic Institute, it was founded in 1899. Today the university has more than 31,000 enrolled students and 13 different institutes.
The International Summer School offers courses in the energy technology field with the following specific themes:

- Scotland: University of the West of Scotland
The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) in Paisley has a long history that dates back to the late 19th century. It was founded during the era of industrialisation and has since undergone many merges and name changes. Today, the university offers more than 140 courses and has around 15,000 students studying at four separate campuses, three in the southwest of Scotland and one in London.
International Summer School

The International Research Summer School at UWS is suitable for students that are interested or prepare for promotional studies. The International Research Summer School offers workshops in the following subject areas:

- Turkey: Bogazici Üniversitesi

Course fee: $300/ per credit
Boğaziçi University (BU) in Istanbul was founded in 1863 as Robert College. Today, with six campuses and over 120 courses, the university has more than 18,000 enrolled students. The Boğaziçi University Summer Term is an intensive 7-week long programme that offers students the opportunity to choose from more than 300 different courses.
