Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

Description

Studying mathematics does not only consist of converting formulas, first, second, third derivations or complicated integration. In mathematics Bachelor is also not only the half-life of beer foam calculated.

But what would it be like to understand the algorithms of Google and co.? Or to be able to describe how medical technology classifies patterns in images or optimally controls robots? You can get all this at BTU. As one of only two universities, we offer you the opportunity to study mathematics in Brandenburg. At the Cottbus location, you benefit from a personal support relationship, low rents and an active campus life. With the semester ticket, you can take a look at Berlin or Dresden at the weekend, and an excursion to Leipzig is also feasible.

In addition to leisure activities, you will also receive a high-quality education. During your mathematics studies you will learn to design and analyse mathematical models of complex facts. We also attach great importance to sharpening your horizons, which is why the theories and methods you learn are used in application areas such as computer science or physics.

Another real plus for studying with us at BTU is that you can finance a large part of your studies yourself at an early stage by working with us - for example as a tutor for practice groups - so that you are fit for the start of your career, you get all the basics - numerics, optimisation, stochastics and discrete mathematics - that the industry needs from you. If you want to understand more precisely what you have to expect, take a look at the structure of your studies. If you don't have enough mathematics bachelor's degree, you might be looking for a career in science or after a career in it.
