Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Höschler as a guest in the "Lausitz Lighthouses" talk series

In 2005, the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg was included in the exclusive group of international universities with which the engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce maintains research collaborations. At that time it was the first university in Germany to become part of the international academic network. On the day of engine technology, November 16, 2016, the successful cooperation will celebrate its tenth anniversary with an exhibition, lectures and laboratory tours. The public discussion evening series "Lausitz Lighthouses" is dedicated to this anniversary. Prof. Höschler provides insights into the origin of the cooperation, into the cooperation between Rolls-Royce and the BTU, but also into the added value for the region and the future fields of engine technology.

Prof. Dr. Ing. Klaus Höschler began his career at RWTH Aachen University. He already laid the foundations for his work as an engine engineer with his studies in general mechanical engineering, specializing in turbomachinery. As a research associate at the Institute for Turbomachinery and Jet Propulsion at the RWTH Aachen University, he did his doctorate on the subject of "Modeling the material behavior of nickel-based materials to improve the prediction of crack initiation in turbine disks in the high-temperature range". In his subsequent sixteen years of work for Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co KG, Prof. Höschler dealt with the development and increase in efficiency of engines for aviation. Initially working as a thermal engineer, his area of responsibility steadily increased. Most recently, as chief designer, he was responsible for the development of the TP400 engine for the Airbus A400M transport aircraft. In 2012, Prof. Höschler accepted a call from the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and became head of the chair for aircraft engine design.
