In this field, one deals with issues of system and control theory. Concepts of mathematical modeling of dynamic systems and methods of controller synthesis (linear and nonlinear control, optimal and robust control, multi-variable control etc.) are taught. That gives a deeper understanding of the theoretical foundations necessary for engineering graduates to be able to solve complex tasks in practice, and  to take research tasks in science.

In research, the head of department deals with the mathematical modeling of dynamic (cellular) systems. In control engineering, innovative synthesis processes are investigated or (further) developed.
