Online-Workshop: Scholarship Application for PhD Funding in Germany

This workshop is suited both for national and international students. You are especially welcome if you're a master's student thinking about a PhD or a PhD candidate in your first year. Past that time frame, this workshop won't be helpful for you.

Content

A German scholarship is an attractive way for (prospective) PhD candidates to fund their research. The advantages of a scholarship can include: belonging to a prestigious organization, networking, having international research paid for, exclusive events and seminars, and more freedom due to financial independence from your supervisor. Nonetheless, knowing if a scholarship is right for you can be a daunting task. Deciding where to apply, knowing how much time and effort to invest, or mastering all application documents can prove challenging. In this workshop, we aim to 1) give you a general idea of which German scholarship institutions exist; 2) assist you in deciding which ones suit you best; 3) and go over what the application process entails. Maia George, the course instructor, is a PhD-scholarship alumna and member of the admission committee of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (German: Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
