Announcements "Best female STEM student of the BTU" and sponsorship award of the association "Frauenhilfswerk Cottbus e.V." 2022

In 2023, the BTU will again award prizes for committed female students - the "Best female STEM student at the BTU 2022" prize (for bachelor's and master's students) and the sponsorship prize of the "Frauenhilfswerk Cottbus e.V." association. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2023.

The prizes are endowed with €500 and €1,000 respectively and are awarded to female students with good to very good academic performance and special commitment. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2023.

Award "Best female STEM student at BTU" The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg has already been honoring particularly talented, high-performing and committed female students of a STEM* study program in the Bachelor's and Master's degree every year since 2016 as part of the equal opportunities promotion. In addition to the central criteria, particular consideration is given to personal career, social and family circumstances, social commitment and special successes. The MINT Prize is endowed with €1,000 for female master 's students and €500 for female bachelor's students.

Eligibility Requirements
This award is open to female students in a STEM* degree program at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Female bachelor and master students from the 1st semester onwards can apply.

Criteria

  • good to very good academic performance,
  • honorary commitment in the student body or for the equality of all genders,
  • Non-university social commitment.

Award of the association "Frauenhilfswerk Cottbus e. V." 2022

The association "Frauen-Hilfswerk Cottbus e.V." has been a regional service organization of professional women with socio-political commitment for 22 years. The association deals with questions of the legal, social and professional position of women and is committed to improving the living conditions for women and girls.

The women of the association are particularly committed to:

  • unhindered access to education and training for women and girls as well as qualification for leadership tasks,
  • economic independence and permanent employment opportunities for women,
  • the best possible care and medical treatment for women and children.

The award is given to a female student of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, who is engaged in a special way both during her studies and beyond in the above sense.

The prize is endowed with 1,000 €.

Criteria

  • good to very good academic performance
  • Commitment to improving the situation of women in society (as explained above)

Participation requirements
The sponsorship awards are open to female BTU students.

Nomination
All employees of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg are eligible to nominate students. The female student should submit her application via the dean's office of her faculty. From there, the application will be forwarded to the Equal Opportunity Office.

Selection
All submitted proposals will be reviewed by the members of the jury, which consists of representatives of the Equal Opportunity Council, the Student Council, the Commission for Teaching, Studies, Study Reform and Continuing Education as well as the Board of the Association. The jury then decides on the awarding of the prize. The decision is expected to be made in mid-February 2023.

Award ceremony
The award will probably be presented at a public event at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

Documents to be submitted to the office of the Equal Opportunity Officer

  • One-page letter of motivation with contact details of the student,
  • letter of recommendation from the person proposing the student,
  • tabular curriculum vitae of the student,
  • Certificate of enrollment for the current semester,
  • Transcript of Records,
  • Information and evidence of community, political and/or personal involvement.
