Contents

The process chain from the extraction of chemical alloying constituents via metallurgical preparation to the production of wire- and powder-based welding consumables in particular is taught in detail. Taking into account the base materials to be welded, the effects of different chemical alloying constituents on the weld metal are discussed. The specific selection and application of filler metals for the elimination of typical welding problems such as porosity, hot and cold cracks is explained. Welding applications with different filler materials and their correct handling as well as storage and drying are shown.
