»Teaching Assistantships« Summer Semester 2021 Deadline for applications: 22 January 2021

Objectives and funding

»Teaching Assistantships« offer international PhD students at BTU the possibility to gain experience either in teaching activities. Professors of BTU may endorse outstanding international PhD candidates to assist them in teaching courses. Teaching assistantships provide new possibilities for career development.

Successful candidates can receive a teaching assistantship of 8 hours per week as graduate teaching assistant (»Wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft«) from April until September 2021.

Please note only a limited number of teaching assistantships will be available. If you received an assistantship before keep in mind that the GRS welcomes applications from newcomers. You may still apply more than once for a teaching assistantship.

Requirements

Eligible candidates are international PhD students who are currently enrolled at BTU. You are not eligible for funding if you hold a position as »Akademischer Mitarbeiter/in« at BTU (i.e. staff member).

This programme does not support your doctoral research project. It is designed to provide you with the possibility to gain further experience in teaching at BTU and to promote your career as young researchers at our university.

Application

If you are interested in a teaching or research assistantship, your supervisor has to endorse your application. To endorse your application for a teaching assistantship, you and your supervisor need to agree on assisting him or her in a specific class, course, seminar, tutorial or similar.

Please send the following documents in a single PDF via email to the GRS until 22 January 2021 by email: researchschool(at)b-tu.de

  • Application form
  • Letter of motivation (max. 300 words)
  • Letter of recommendation from your supervisor (max. 300 words): short description of the task; description regarding his/her supervision; assessment of the candidate’s abilities to fulfil the task
  • Curriculum Vitae (max. 2 pp.)
  • Proof of enrolment

If the application is not complete or does not meet the requirements mentioned above the GRS will not process it. The GRS will only accept complete applications submitted in a single PDF file. Candidates are responsible to submit the nomination documents adequately, e.g. handwritten or incomplete applications are not accepted.
