Description

This research examines the conceptual and practical changes that emerge in the field of documentary heritage preservation as a result of using computer and Internet technologies. The UNESCO Memory of the World Programme offers a reference point in this analysis. The main aim is to understand the limits of using digital technologies for purposes of preservation and to suggest alternative solutions to the drawbacks they may have.

Short Bio

Anca Claudia Prodan attended courses in anthropology, philosophy, and theatre staging and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy-Anthropology conferred by the Faculty of Political Sciences and Communications of the West University of Timişoara, Romania. Her passion for various academic disciplines as well as for interdisciplinary research led her to the master programme in World Heritage Studies, BTU Cottbus, from which she received her Master’s degree. Her major interests in the field of culture, heritage and communication determined her to enrol, as doctoral student, in the PhD programme of Heritage Studies, which she succesfully completed in 2013. From June 2013 until August 2019 she was research assistant at the Chair Intercultural Studies at BTU, teaching in the Master's programme World Heritage Studies and continuies her research on Heritage Studies.
