New materials for resource- and energy-efficient applications and processes, material cycles for valuable and rare materials, replacement of fossil raw materials by natural substances and biomaterials: Materials chemistry bundles all these activities of chemical transformation and characterization of new materials and pursues these materials up to their engineering realization and application. On the way "from molecule to material" not only chemists, but also physicists, biotechnologists, process engineers and materials scientists are involved. Material chemistry at the BTU - these are modern, versatile and practice-oriented courses of studies as well as innovative research in the fields of inorganic materials and biologized polymer materials.
For teaching and research, we have a modern laboratory building at our disposal, which, not least thanks to comprehensive renovation (2017 to 2019), meets all the current requirements of everyday laboratory life. The equipment infrastructure has been continuously expanded in recent years and creates the best working conditions for students and scientific staff.
