Julia Korensky successfully defended her dissertation

Julia Korensky, doctoral student at the Research Training Group “Cultural and Technological Significance of Historic Buildings” since 2014, has successfully defended her dissertation thesis on July 15, 2020 at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

In her dissertation she examined the development of English country houses in a ruinous or formerly ruinous state and described the gradual change in public perception of the country house, its abandonment, destruction, and later revival. Beyond investigation the thesis concluded with a short set of recommendations drawn from the analysis of the case studies, allowing a better understanding of how residential ruins may be rationally reused and managed.
