The objectives of the project 'Cooperation of the University of Zielona Góra and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in the field of Green Energy' are to improve access to knowledge and technology transfer and to create an international transnational innovation framework. Through collaboration with the University of Zielona Góra, the innovative strengths of German-Polish development in the area will be increased. The EU project is financed until 2015 as part of the 'Operational programme for cross-border cooperation − Poland (Lubuskie Province) − Brandenburg 2007-2013'.
Subproject 1: Effective Use of Heating Energy in Residential Buildings
In the first part of the project, the team led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tadeusz Kuczynski (University of Zielona Góra) is working on the construction of two experimental single-storey laboratories with an area of approx 100 sqm in the Science and Technology Park of the University of Zielona Góra in Nowy Kisielin. The goal is to propose marketable model solutions that allow optimal cost-benefit analysis for the given thermal insulation and ventilation. Both labs will be equipped with mechanical ventilation, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery in the recuperative process, and a natural ventilation and ground heat exchanger. The life cycle analysis (LCA Life Cycle Assessment) and life cycle costing (LCC, Life Cycle Cost) will be investigated for all model solutions.
Subproject 2: Increased Use of Renewable Energy in German-Polish Infrastructure
In the second part of the project, under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Grzegorz Benysek (University of Zielona Góra), measures will be taken to increase the use of renewable energy sources for domestic electricity production and transport in the geographic area. Two of the renewable energy sources developed within the framework of the project at the University of Zielona Góra (IP) and at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg will be used in teaching. A multimedia platform with up-to-date information on the progress of the project will be created as part of the project. This public platform allows online tracking of the parameters of both partners.
A mobile electrical laboratory characterised by very low noise and pollutant emissions will promote the exchange of students between Zielona Góra and Cottbus. Students from both universities can use the laboratories and take part in events as part of cultural exchange. In addition, the mobile laboratory will promote the joint research of the two universities and the cooperation between the municipalities of Cottbus and Zielona Góra. Two public charging stations at the IP and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg will be used to charge the mobile laboratory and electric vehicles of residents.
