  • What are the current conditions for attending face-to-face courses?

The BTU must comply with the current handling regulations of the state of Brandenburg. For the seminars, please be prepared to bring your vaccination certificate or proof of health regularly to the seminars. If you do not yet have such proof, you must bring a test certificate issued in your name before the start of the first day of classes each week in accordance with § 23(2) of the current contact regulations. If you attend classes on more than three consecutive days, you are required to present a corresponding test certificate twice a week. Confirmation of a self-test carried out on the corresponding form is sufficient as proof of testing.

With our hygiene concept and the adapted space capacity in the teaching rooms, safe studying in presence is guaranteed. Please actively contribute to this by observing the general hygiene rules and wearing a medical mask inside the BTU buildings. In the seminar rooms, the mask can be removed during the seminar if the distances are observed.

We look forward to seeing you and meeting you on campus.

  • What will the winter semester be like?

The BTU sees itself as an in-person university and plans to resume regular courses starting from winter semester in October 2021. The opening of our university stands for joint learning, creative exchange and a lively campus life. The BTU has taken all precautions to responsibly take steps into in-person teaching. We are responding to current changes in the pandemic with a flexible range of teaching and learning formats.

Due to the high proportion of international students and the ongoing difficult visa situation, the following English-language international study programmes are predominantly offered online or hybrid courses:

    • Cyber Security
    • Environmental and Resource Management
    • Heritage Conservation and Site Management
    • Physics
    • Power Engineering
    • Urban Design - Revitalization of Historic City Districts
    • World Heritage Studies (parallel online and face-to-face)
    • TFM-ASA
    • Euro Hydroinformatics and Water Management

Online study is not possible in the Biotechnology Master's programme due to modules with a strong practical component.

  • What personal counselling services are available for students with questions about the study process?

Subject-related counsellors will also be available in the coming semester for individual counselling sessions to plan your study schedule. Please take advantage of these offers and contact your subject-related counsellors, e.g. if there have been changes to your individual study plan due to postponed exams.

If you need a personal counselling interview, ask for an individual counselling appointment, if necessary also via the chair's office. The interview can then be conducted by telephone or also as a video conference. Please clarify the possibility of a face-to-face consultation individually with your advisor.

In addition to subject-related counselling, the Central Student Guidance and Counselling Service is also available by telephone and email. Here you will receive support for questions of a general nature, e.g. on exam preparation or financing issues. Individual counselling appointments can also be made here by video conference or by appointment.

  • How can examination documents be viewed in the current situation?

If students wish to inspect the examination or the examination records after an examination result has been announced, they submit a corresponding application to the examiner(s) by email. As before, this request must be made within four weeks of the announcement of the result. In the case of a final module examination, this period begins when the grade has been posted in the Admissions and Registrar's Office system. In the case of a partial performance in Continuous Assessment, it begins after the examiner has announced the result.

It is possible to inspect the examination documents on site; the pandemic handling guidelines apply to the observance of hygiene and distance rules as for oral presence examinations.

It is still permissible to organise the inspection within the framework of a video conference in which the scanned documents are displayed. This should be used in particular if the persons involved have understandable reasons for not being able to attend a personal appointment (e.g. belonging to a risk group).
