Recommended PrerequisitesBasic knowledge in computer networks and programming.
ContentsIn  this module security issues of different application areas will be introduced. The application fields investigated are automotive, automation industry, critical infrastructures e.g. drinking/waste water systems or public transport, but also financial  systems. The core of the lecture are security incidents reported in the past. These incidents will be examined and the reasons why they were successful will be explained.
Learning OutcomeThe students should
  • learn about security incidents,
  • be able to assess the complexity of the attacks,
  • be aware of the interrelationships of different security/safety issues,
  • be able to determine basic countermeasure for selected attacks.
Module ExaminationPrerequisite + Final Module Examination (MAP)
Assessment Mode for Module ExaminationPrerequisite:
  • Successful completion of exercise assignments
Final module examination:
  • Written examination, 90 min. OR
  • Oral examination, 30 min. (with small number of participants)
