ContentsWearable sensors and mobile Health (mHealth) devices are considered a key technology for enabling on-body telemedicine approaches. Such methods may ensure significantly more mobile and comprehensive ambulant health care services that enable to process and analyse data already on site of the patient, e.g. to detect emergencies. The lecture introduces different approaches and existing telemedicine infrastructures using wearable sensors with focus on Germany and Europe. Based on this, the key components of wearables and their complex requirements for utilizing captured data are reflected from both technological and medical perspectives. Students will additionally learn about different industrial standards as well as necessary criteria for legal approval of mHealth solutions and discuss these aspects with regard to real world examples.
