Invitation to BTU event: “Celebrating Diversity in Cottbus & at BTU” Organized by: Master of Arts in Transformation Studies (First Semester Students) Date: 12.02.2025 Time: 14:30 - 17:00  Location: Startblock B2, Siemens-Halske-Ring 2

As the first semester of our Master of Arts in Transformation Studies program concludes, we are organizing an event to celebrate the diversity that has been integral to our learning journey. This event aims to reflect on the key lessons we've learned about the importance of embracing multiple perspectives: economic, social, technical, and environmental when addressing global transformation challenges.

The purpose of the event is twofold:

  1. To celebrate the diverse backgrounds, ideas, and experiences within our program that have enriched our understanding of transformation processes.
  2. To create a space for meaningful conversations and reflections on how diversity can drive meaningful impact in our University and the City of Cottbus

The program will include:

  • Welcome note to be delivered by the university leadership to set the tone for the event and highlight the importance of inclusivity in education and transformation.
  • Message from Prof. Dr. Melanie Jaeger-Erben Sharing insights on the inter- and transdisciplinary nature of transformation and the value of considering different perspectives.
  • World Café Session: An interactive activity designed to encourage small-group discussions on key themes related to diversity and transformation in Cotbus and at BTU.
  • Audience Reflections: An open forum for participants to share their personal insights, learnings, and thoughts on the semester and the event.

Event Goal

The goal of the Celebrating Diversity in Transformation Studies event is to honor and highlight the diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds within the Master of Arts in Transformation Studies Program. Through meaningful dialogue and reflection, the event aims to deepen our collective understanding of how embracing diversity can inspire innovative solutions to global transformation challenges. Additionally, it seeks to foster connections within the university and community, empowering participants to carry forward the principles of inclusivity and interdisciplinary collaboration in their personal and professional lives.

This celebration is not only a reflection of our academic progress but also a tribute to the unity and collaboration that have defined our cohort. By coming together, we hope to reinforce the message that diversity is not just a concept but a driving force for transformative change.
