Learning Outcome:Programming skills for hydroinformatics system development and adaptation, understanding of GIS data structures and application concepts in hydroinformatics.
Contents:Software Engineering: basic steps in software engineering for hydroinfomatics software, introduction to programming languages (e.g. R, Java, C++, Python) and basic components, introduction to basic software engineering and implementation tools (e.g. Eclipse, Anaconda, R Studio).

Implementation of simple hydroinformatics tools using selected programming languages: river cross-section, time series, linear equation systems, 1D numerical schemes, data analysis
Code examples from implementation of graphical user interfaces, data base access, interfacing with standard data formats, multi-threading, interprocess communication, Web technology, open source tools and libraries for hydroinformatics systems.

GIS: coordinate reference systems, raster and vector based data structures and operations, digital elevation models (raster, TIN), interfacing, import/export, data bases and data analysis, geo-spatial data analysis, OGC Web-GIS standards, remote sensing, integration in hydroinformatics systems.

Application examples from hydroengineering projects.

Mandatory Prerequisites:No successful participation in associated phase-out module 41416 Computer Skills, Databases and GIS - ICT.
