Learning Outcome:
  • Deeper understanding of one field of construction history, scientifically based work in cooperation with students from different European partnering Universities
  • Cultural competencies in an European environment as well as language skills within the field of construction history will be encouraged
  • Varying attitudes and methods based on different national standards will be critically discussed
  • Project work in small groups is required, the outcome will be discussed and edited with and for the target audience
Contents:This course offers a perfect opportunity to get into contact with certain topics of construction history set in an international environment. Besides the scientific work that is required to complete the group project one of the main contents of the course is the get to know different methods, attitudes and ways of thinking that are brought in by students of partnering Universities. The reflection on those disparities, the different „Philosophies of approach“  is another main content of this course. A third core area is reworking the individual project outcome at high quality.

The course topics are linked to international projects handled at the chair of construction history, the way of teaching varies: for example compact course sessions like the „European Summer Schools on Construction History“ (CH.ESS) organised by the chair, Individual project work as part of international research projects like the Eremitage in Sankt Petersburg, or on buildings and constructions from the industrial era in the Ural region in Russia.
