Learning Outcome:At the end of the module students are able to analyze problems in the field of energy storage, to create balances for different energy storage systems, to solve and to evaluate these regarding energy benefits and economic aspects.
Contents:Introduction to energy supply and transport, storage as compensate for fluctuating energy (electricity, heat, fuel - short and long term storage), gas storage, heat storage, mechanical storage (flywheel, pumped storage power plant, compressed air power plant), chemical and electrical storage materials (batteries/accumulators, supercaps) as energy storage (hydrogen, methanol, ethanol)

  • Thermodynamics
  • Fundamentals of electrical engineering

  • Seminar / 2 Hours per Week per Semester

  • Written examination, 90 minutes OR
  • Oral examination, 45 minutes
