Learning Outcome:Through case studies this seminar seeks to engage students with current topics around the management of modern value creation systems. It offers the possibility to generate communicative skills and to acquire managerial expertise while analysing complex problem formulations. Besides the knowledge generated around the technical content, the students will have the opportunity to improve their presentation skills, to become more analytic and to be able to formulate ‘critic-argumentations’ around realistic managerial situations. Therefore, a high degree of autonomy, determination and precision is expected from the students when approaching the seminar’s case studies.
Contents:The Cases presented in the seminar immerse students into realistic situations around the management of modern value creation systems. Cases will be selected to disclose the reality of managerial decision-making – including incomplete information, time constraints, and conflicting goals  – giving students the opportunity to learn how to analyse real managerial situations. Additionally, the seminar has been structured to stimulate students' thinking through the encouragement of discussion. As a result, it is expected from the students to come out with innovative solutions to those case studies, which will have to be individually completed under academic specifications. Before the last session, students will have to deliver their work it form of an Essay, which has to enclose each case’s analysis and the closing remarks around the overall topic of the seminar.
