Module Title:Turbulence Modeling
  Turbulenzmodellierung
Department: Faculty 3 - Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Energy Systems
Responsible Staff Member:
  • Prof. Dr.-Ing. Schmidt, Heiko
Language of Teaching / Examination:English
Duration:1 semester
Frequency of Offer: Every winter semester

Subjects are:
  • Conservation equations and canonical flows
  • Basic concepts of computational fluid mechanics
  • The problem related to turbulent flow simulation
  • Algebraic, 1-, and 2 equation models
  • Reynolds stress models
  • Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) approaches
  • Large Eddy Simulation (LES)
  • Direct numerical simulation (DNS)
  • Hybrid turbulence models
  • Stochastic turbulence models
