Learning Outcome:Students will have aquired the skill to
  • name, explain & discuss competently the major approaches to the protection of heritage in its different interpretations (cultural heritage, natural heritage, cultural landscapes, intangible heritage).
  • work and collaborate in diverse teams and learn about and from different perspective
  • orient themselves within the state of the art of research in heritage studies
Contents:The module introduces students to the World Heritage Convention, its backgrounds, and its definitions of heritage (cultural heritage, natural heritage, cultural landscapes etc.) and identification over the course of time. It also introduces to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

(1) Discussion paper, individual or in group, ~500 words (35%)
(2) creative presentation, individual or in group (35 %)
(3) work on case study including paper hand in, individual or in group, ~500 words (35%)
