Learning Outcome:In this course you will learn various aspects writing academic/scientific English, from the language itself, to structuring the text and writing more efficiently.  The course is designed to help develop the skills needed to write effectively in an academic setting, while also preparing you for the use of English in the scientific and business world.  By the end of the course you should be able to write according to academic English standard, as well as gain more command of the language and organise your work more effectively.
Contents:- Basics of Writing: avoiding plagiarism, summarising and paraphrasing, organising paragraphs, etc.
- Elements of Writing: argument and discussion, comparison, definitions, etc.
- Language Uses: punctuation, style, cohesion
- Vocabulary/grammar: abbreviations, conjunctions, prepositions, synonyms
- Writing Types: literature reviews, case studies, writing in groups
Recommended Prerequisites:A good command of written English, preferably at least a B2 CEFR.  Students should have some experience with academic, business or scientific writing in English.

Teaching Materials and Literature:Academic Writing for International Students of Business and Economics (3rd Edition)
Module Examination:Continuous Assessment (MCA)
Assessment Mode for Module Examination:Continuously graded tasks (10% of the final grade),
Unit tests of 45 minutes each (30% of the final grade),
1 final written test of 60 min (60% of the final grade).
The tests will be carried out online.
Evaluation of Module Examination:Performance Verification – graded

Remarks:This module especially aims at students in all degree programs who study in English or aspire a semester abroad, and exchange students with an English language competence at level CEFR B2+. It is not suited for students with a lower English language competence.

No more than 25 participants can be enrolled in each language course group.
