Learning Outcome: | Upon succesfull completion students have gained a comprehensive understanding of scientific-theoretical and methodological foundations of transformation research. They gained theoretical and practical knowledge of basic qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical research, such as exploratory data analysis, open coding, case comparison. Students acquired knowledge and practical experience in using specific formats of transformational science and transformative research, such as real-world experiments/labs, citizen science and transdisciplinarity. They have methodological competences in the development of research questions, methodological designs, presentation of results. Students have acquired inter- and transdisciplinary skills. |
Contents: | The module offers an introduction to and an overview of relevant methodological foundations of transformation research and transformative research. Basic qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical research, such as exploratory data analysis, open coding, case comparison or case studies are taught. Students conduct their own short studies in small groups during the module in order to apply what they have learned. The focus is on transdisciplinary methods and participatory formats. |
