14062 - Design Project 1 Modulübersicht

Module Number: 14062
Module Title:Design Project 1
  Entwurfsprojekt 1
Department: Faculty 6 - Architecture, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning
Responsible Staff Member:
  • Prof. Pedersen, Per
Language of Teaching / Examination:English
Duration:1 semester
Frequency of Offer: Every semester
Credits: 12
Learning Outcome:The students master complex design methods for the development of architectural ideas. They are able to perform services that are required in practice in the development of designs, e.g. also in architectural competitions. To this end, they are able to generate architectural objects and associated urban open spaces from divergent information under design and artistic aspects conceptually, methodically, constructionally and economically and to implement and present them in design concepts. To this end, they apply scientific methods of analysis to identify information relevant to recognise built architectures as references.Energetic, ecological and climate-relevant influences on architecture can be integrated into the design. Students can develop building plans in a design-structural-technical integrative way. They are able to design buildings methodically and to recognise aesthetic and structural effects of buildings in the urban space, the effect of materials and design and to classify them in informative contexts of the building type. They are able to consider design conditions and the resulting application in architecture. They are able to describe the basic features of the conception of their architectures and to present them as competitive graphics in a given period of time by means of classical and innovative techniques. They can produce work results individually and in groups. They can present their work results in front of a group.
Contents:Design of residential buildings, homes, kindergartens, school and university buildings, office, administration and service buildings, sports buildings as well as other social buildings, also hybrid uses, also with integration of technical components as conditional systems. Methods of analysis of buildings, development of the design idea, design with integration of representation, presentation and model construction.
Recommended Prerequisites:none
Mandatory Prerequisites:None
Forms of Teaching and Proportion:
  • Design project / 6 Hours per Week per Semester
  • Self organised studies / 270 Hours
Teaching Materials and Literature:The assignments as well as references for further reading and self-responsible research possibilities are topic-related and will be announced at the beginning of the semester/seminar.
Module Examination:Continuous Assessment (MCA)
Assessment Mode for Module Examination:Interim presentation of the analysis and design idea (10%)
Interim presentation of the preliminary design (10%)
Final presentation of the project (80%)
The results are usually presented in the form of plans and one or more models. The results are presented to the public at the university. This public presentation is part of the examination. The work results and presentation are regarded as a unit and assessed with an overall grade.
The project is to be worked on as individual work.
Evaluation of Module Examination:Performance Verification – graded
Limited Number of Participants:None
Part of the Study Programme:
