Contents: | Introduction to archaeology and the history of architecture. The lectures on "Archaeology" are intended to familiarize students with fundamental archaeological approaches and methods, including the potential advantageous uses of archaeology as well as the inherent problems and dangers of archaeological projects. The lectures on the “History of Architecture” explain the historical evolution of architecture/architectural styles based on examples of buildings from different time periods and from various countries, i.e. from ancient Greek and Roman times to modern times. Examples will focus primarily on European architecture, but a comparative view to buildings from countries outside of Europe is also respected. |
