Learning Outcome: | Students learn to understand the functional principle, specific components, electrical circuits, control structures and the characteristic behaviour. They are able to find problem proper concepts and define components and auxiliaries for power converters. |
Contents: | Subject of power electronics; components and their static and transient behaviour; circuit topologies as grid commutated converter, self commutated converter, dc-dc-converter, resonant and quasi-resonant converter; single and three phase applications; characteristic values of components and topologies; cooling; passive components and filters; firing, driver and protection devices; pulse-width-modulation; simulation tools |
