BTU Advent calendar: Door 3

While at work everything revolves around digital teaching, at Christmas the director of the IKMZ enjoys the silence and contemplation in the family and board games rather than computer games are used.

Dr. Claudia Börner, Management IKMZ

How do you celebrate Christmas?
I celebrate Christmas quite traditionally, i.e. together with the family with presents under the Christmas tree, lots of candlelight and of course good food. Usually the many board games (from the cellar) are used again and ensure long evenings.

Do you serve traditional Christmas dishes on Christmas Eve/ Christmas holidays?
Our family traditionally serves potato salad with Wiener sausages on Christmas Eve. But since I don't really like potato salad myself (especially not on Christmas Eve), I try – if time allows – to establish new traditions (e.g. with a cheese fondue). On Christmas Day we have the roast duck and on Boxing Day we have the leftovers, because nobody wants to cook and nobody has any appetite anymore.

What is your wish for Christmas?
First and foremost I wish for health for all of us, time for the family, more mindfulness and somehow a normal next year.

Do you have a favourite cookie recipe?
Since there are very reliable suppliers of biscuits in the family and I don't bake that much myself, I like to make home-made almonds every now and then during the Advent season. Super easy and very tasty!

What are you currently working on?
A lot of things from budget and personnel planning to project management. Last week I looked more closely at our ESF project "Learn&Play". In concrete terms, this project is creating a playful learning environment that is intended to support interested or prospective engineers in dealing with the content of technical mechanics. If you are interested in what is actually being created here, please take a look at our trailer: https://www-docs.b-tu.de/learn-and-play/public/News-Videos/Trailer_dt.mp4
