Prof. Michael Hübner is a member of the Strategy Group for Research and Innovation at the European University Association

The European University Association (EUA) is the largest association of European universities and universities of applied sciences. The Association of European Universities has about 850 members from 48 countries of the European Higher Education Area. The Research and Innovation Strategy Group (RISG) is an advisory body to the EUA Board and Council.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Michael Hübner was nominated by the German Rectors' Conference (HRK), selected by the Administrative Council of the Association of European Universities (EUA) and confirmed as a member of the Research and Innovation Strategy Group(RISG). The RISG is the advisory committee of the EUA for research and innovation policy issues at the European level. In addition, RISG members who have leadership responsibility for research and innovation at their university can exchange views on various R&I topics among themselves in the spirit of networking and benefit from experiences.

Prof. Michael Hübner says: "Being a member of RISG is an extremely great honor and appreciation of me and my work. I look forward to being able to contribute my knowledge to the advisory body. Helping to shape things at the European level is an attractive challenge. I am sure that my experience in higher education policy and as Vice President of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg will be a valuable basis for this task."

On October 14, 2022, the first meeting of the new Strategy Group for Research and Innovation took place in Brussels, with BTU Vice President for Research and Transfer at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg Prof. Michael Hübner participating as a representative for all universities in Germany.

The Research and Innovation Strategy Group (RISG) was established to shape the EEA's research policy in perspective and with a view to all European universities. The group will formulate EEA positions, statements and recommendations on European research and innovation programs.

At its inaugural meeting, members of the group discussed existing and new priorities for the higher education sector arising from EU policies and broader national and international developments. These priorities will be reflected in a four-year EEA research and innovation agenda that RISG members will develop in the coming months. The group will oversee the activities of the EEA expert groups on science and innovation and on the Green Deal.
