Polish delegation from Żary as guests

In order to intensify cooperation between universities in the German and Polish parts of Lusatia, the Rector of the Łużycka Szkoła Wyższa in Żary (Lower Lusatia), Dr Roman Maciej Jozefiak, visited BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg with a delegation on Wednesday, 26 July 2023. Together with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Hübner, Vice President for Research and Transfer at BTU, they discussed similarities between the two universities in terms of their structures and profiles. "I see opportunities to carry out joint projects in basic and applied research, particularly in the subject areas of materials science and renewable energies and hydrogen technology," said Prof. Hübner. In the next step, he would like to bring together colleagues from both universities from the areas of research, technology transfer, studies and teaching to explore concrete areas of cooperation. The return visit to Żary is planned for September. The visit was rounded off by a tour of the BTU's Information, Communication and Media Centre (IKMZ), in particular the Science Gallery and the eAssessment Centre.

The BTU already maintains numerous cooperative relationships with Polish universities, including, for example, the TU Poznań, with which it also cooperates in the European University Alliance EUNICE, the TU Zielona Góra in Cottbus' twin city and the TU Warsaw, with which the BTU offers an international Erasmus Mundus Joint Degree Master's programme "Euro Hydroinformatics and Water Management". Currently, almost 40 Polish students are enrolled at the BTU.
