Children learn business succession
On 11 December 2023, the Ströbitz primary school's first hiking day will take 40 young potential entrepreneurs to the STARTBLOCK B2 start-up centre to learn interesting facts about starting a business and company succession. Using the newly published book "Nachfolge gesichert!" ("Succession secured!") by BTU employee Stefanie Schiemenz, the children followed in the footsteps of family company history together with siblings Emma and Emil. The children learn about the entire process of founding and succeeding a company - from the development of an entrepreneurial idea, product development, recruitment of staff and capital through to company succession. Topics such as problem-solving processes, sponsoring and the Youth Employment Protection Act are also addressed.
Stefanie Schiemenz, the project manager of the Lusatian Succession Bus, comments: "The children of today are the future founders and business successors. Only if the entrepreneurial spirit is anchored in the minds of children can we maintain the diversity of our society in the future. We need courageous children who will then enrich the world with their own ideas by training or studying, and we can only achieve this by pointing out these opportunities early on and not just during their studies."
The young founders also learnt how the city of Cottbus was founded and what the city of Cottbus has to offer for new ideas. The children were able to try out the hands-on workshop at the COLab and learnt about the laser cutter, embroidery machine and 3D printer in a fun way.
Background to the non-fiction book "Succession secured!"
The courage to be an entrepreneur is presented in a child-friendly and multi-faceted way. The book, which has also been translated into English and Spanish, was created as part of the BMWK project "Lausitzer NachfolgeBus".
