Federal Minister Lisa Paus honours a joint project of the BTU and the Cottbus Chamber of Crafts

Women in management positions at the centre of attention

Under the motto "My future: female boss in the skilled trades", the Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Lisa Paus, honoured projects and events that take innovative and forward-looking approaches to promoting women in management positions. On 5 December 2023, the final event of the pilot project "Frau-Handwerk-Nachfolge" took place in Berlin. Fourteen approaches to strengthening career opportunities for women were honoured.

The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the Chamber of Skilled Crafts were honoured for the joint event "Perspectives for girls and women in business, science, skilled crafts and politics" on 21 June 2023.Here, seven women from a wide range of fields inspired more than 60 people to pursue new career paths.Based on their own career paths, they showed that in addition to courage, intuition, joy and good networks are also important for women on their way to professional success. Stefanie Schiemenz, the project manager of the Lusatian Succession Bus, commented: "Our event on 21 June 2023 showed the female students the potential that lies in the skilled trades and, above all, as a female boss in the skilled trades. This award shows once again that this topic has arrived in politics."
