Online Workshop: Career Planning for PhD Researchers (EN)
Target Group
PhD students of all research areas
Content
This course provides an opportunity for participants to embark upon a one-day exploration of the process of designing an individual career path, with an initial focus on the practical steps towards realising that career. Through a combination of theoretical and practical activities, participants gain insight into their strengths, interests, values and the associated framework conditions. This allows them to develop a diverse range of career options both in academic and professional contexts.
The course is divided into three main phases:
- The analysis phase is designed to facilitate an understanding of the personal criteria that participants believe are necessary for a successful career and the requirements that must be met in order to achieve this.
- The ideation phase is characterised by the development of many suitable career paths and the encouragement of creative thinking.
- The prototyping and testing phase entails planning the realisation of career plans and pursuing various scenarios in parallel processes.
Furthermore, participants are taught career design methods, enabling them to organise their careers independently. They address critical issues in academic careers and receive valuable input on future skills and the future of work. The course emphasises the exchange among scientists on career topics and concerns, aiming to foster a network of mutual support and inspiration.
