BTU cycles 39,356 kilometers in city cycling

This year, BTU took 3rd place in the "City Cycling" competition in Cottbus!

From May 4 to 24, Cottbus pedaled hard during the city cycling event. Around 3,124 cyclists in 117 teams worked hard and cycled 588,337 kilometers. This meant that around 98 tons of CO2 were avoided - for climate protection and our own health.

We came in 3rd place with 118 cyclists and 39,356 kilometers! We are very proud that we were able to achieve such a high total number of kilometers as a team this year. "M.K." once again cycled the most kilometers among all BTU participants this year and was able to increase his last record once again to a total of 1,180 kilometers. The "Tour de Senftenberg" team was also the largest sub-team this year with 19 active participants and contributed significantly to the team's success with around 5,566 kilometers.

"We are also delighted with third place - BTU is showing that environmentally friendly mobility and fitness are an integral part of our Staff Members' everyday lives. It's not just these three weeks that are important to us, but activities throughout the year!" says team captain Prof. Peer Schmidt (Vice-President for Academic Affairs).

We would like to thank all participants who took part with fun and enthusiasm, andas a small thank-you this year there will once again be a small surprise for all active cyclists, which you can request fromBTU's health management team at gesundheitsmanagement(at)b-tu.de.
