Seminar group meeting of the SGT A84 in Senftenberg
Saturday was all about the town of Senftenberg and its university. At 09:30, everyone was able to experience first-hand what it's like to sit in a lecture theatre. To get in the mood for the day, there was a short lecture in the Konrad Zuse Media Center (11.103) entitled "From the mining school to 'Ernst Thälmann' to the university campus". Then it got technical: in a very clear lecture, Steffen Wichmann from Fac. 3 (himself once a student and graduate SG "I86" of the School of Engineering) explained to us how Factory Planning and Operation work today. There was also plenty of time to question various things and try them out for ourselves. For most of the "automation experts", there was then completely new territory to marvel at: Ms. Katja Rennert from Faculty 4 welcomed us to the anatomy laboratory and demonstrated two virtual dissection tables. This allowed us to gain deep insights into the human body layer by layer. We were all very impressed by what is possible.
As a BTU employee, I can say: it's great what technical equipment we have here and even better: what motivated employees we have here in Senftenberg, who gave us interesting, exciting hours and played a huge part in the success of this meeting. Our heartfelt thanks go to Ms. Rennert and Mr. Wichmann!
In the afternoon there was a short tour of Senftenberg (Pieck Straße, new traffic circle, Senftenberg Lake and harbor, Schoßpark, market and "Glück-Auf" barrier) and the sports activities that are always on the agenda (volleyball is compulsory). The evening was rounded off with a review of 40 years of A84 and a corresponding quiz (with small prizes supported by the BTU). The overnight stay was not far from the university at the Natur- & Aktivresort Resort - a great location!
