World-class guitarist makes guest appearance at the BTU in Cottbus
In this masterclass concert, which will take place in Building 7, he will perform virtuoso and entertaining works such as a Rossini potpourri by Italian composer Mauro Giuliani, the Spanish-style Sonatina meridional by Manuel Maria Ponce and a work by Serbian composer Dušan Bogdanović, who likes to use jazzy and popular elements.
The world-class guitarist Goran Krivokapić, who comes from Montenegro, won his first international competition at the age of fourteen and went on to win a further 18 first prizes at the most important international competitions, such as the International Concert Artist Competition organised by the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA). He also received two Chittara d'Oro awards at the annual International Guitar Convention in Alessandria/Italy. He regularly performs throughout Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa in prestigious venues.
His recordings and concerts have been highly praised in the international specialised press, including in: Gramophone (UK), Classical Guitar Magazine (UK), Soundboard Magazine (USA), The WholeNote (Canada), Akustik Gitarre (Germany), Neue Musikzeitung (Germany), Gendai Guitar Magazine (Japan).
As a performer, lecturer and juror, Goran Krivokapić is a frequent guest at major international festivals and universities worldwide. He is a professor of guitar at the Cologne University of Music and also teaches at the Detmold University of Music.
Admission to the concert at the BTU is free, but a donation in favour of the Cottbus Guitar Society is requested.
Background
This concert is organised by the Verein zur Förderung der klassischen Gitarre in Cottbus und Brandenburg e. V., which was founded by teachers and students at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
The aim is to fund classical guitar in the region and beyond and to provide interested people of all ages with a lively cultural and informative programme. Special attention is paid to the promotion of young talent: all events, including individual masterclasses, are accessible to interested guitar students at a low threshold and are intended to provide them with inspiration, motivation and professional expertise for their personal artistic development.
