Virtual reality in the focus of the BTU Pupils' University

"Brain and computer united: How we can influence virtual worlds with our thoughts" - this is the title of the current Pupils' University lecture at the Cottbus main campus of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) on Wednesday, 28 May 2025, from 4 to 5:30 pm.

Interested parties from years seven to ten are invited to the university's central lecture theatre building, Audimax 2, Konrad-Wachsmann-Allee 3 in 03046 Cottbus.
The officer will be Dr Marius Klug from the Chair of Neuroadaptive Human-Technology Interaction.

Virtual reality (VR) allows us to immerse ourselves in exciting digital worlds - and we can use brain waves to measure what we perceive and how we deal with it.
This talk will look at how our bodies and brains can be used to enhance VR interactions.
It will discuss technologies such as EEG (to measure brain activity), EMG (to capture muscle movements) and eye-tracking (to see where we are looking) and how these are used to help us interact more intuitively with virtual worlds.
Participants will learn about current experiments and how these technologies could influence our lives in the future. Dr Marius Klug's lecture will focus not only on the exciting possibilities of these technologies, but also on the challenges and ethical issues that arise.

The BTU's Pupils' University offers interested pupils the opportunity to understand scientific and technical topics and is intended to awaken a desire for discovery and research. This gives them the chance to develop their own skills and expand their talents. Together with Sparkasse Niederlausitz, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is offering an attractive new programme in which interested parties can work on various projects in small teams and consolidate their knowledge on excursions.
