BTU welcomes 70 exchange students for the winter semester

The Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) is delighted to welcome numerous new exchange students again this year.

As part of the ERASMUS+ and STUDEXA exchange programmes, students from Albania, Algeria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Ghana, India, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Oman, Poland, Serbia, Spain, South Korea, Taiwan and Ukraine have found their way to Cottbus and Senftenberg.

They enrich the student body at BTU with an enormous variety of academic and cultural experiences. Among them are students from the international degree programme ‘Transfer Fluids Materials in Aeronautical and Space Applications’, which is offered jointly with the Université de Bordeaux (France) and the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and in which students complete part of their studies at BTU. Also participating are students from the DAAD exchange programme ‘Combined Study and Practical Stays for Engineers from Developing Countries’ (KOSPIE) and students from the German-Jordanian University, who are combining a semester of study at the BTU with a subsequent internship in Germany. For the first time, exchange students from D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University were also welcomed.

During the welcome event, the new exchange students received information about the language courses offered by the Central Language Department at various levels. In addition, the International Relations Office provided a wealth of information on organising studies at the BTU, as well as helpful tips on cultural activities in the region and planned day trips during the 2025/26 winter semester. The programme was rounded off by a presentation from the StuRa's International Affairs Department, which informed exchange students about its various services and presented planned campus events. In addition, the local ERASMUS initiative and the BTU buddy programme presented their support and event offerings.

The welcome session not only provided an excellent opportunity for informative exchange, but also for making initial contacts. During a relaxed get-together with pizza and entertaining icebreaker games, the international students were able to establish initial connections with each other and with the International Relations Office team.

The BTU is delighted to welcome this diverse and international community into its midst and looks forward to the shared experiences and adventures that lie ahead in the 2025/26 winter semester.
