International diversity at BTU: 21 new DAAD scholarship holders enrich campus and research
These outstanding students and researchers, who have qualified through excellent academic achievements and social engagement in their home countries, will now contribute their knowledge, experience and perspectives to research and teaching at the BTU.
The scholarship holders come from countries such as Mexico, Uzbekistan, Japan, Afghanistan and Ghana, as well as many other nations. They are studying and conducting research in a variety of disciplines – from environmental sciences to mechanical engineering, architecture and urban planning to electrical engineering and biotechnology. With their commitment, they are making a significant contribution to shaping the campus as a place of international exchange and scientific diversity.
The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Wolfram Berger, Vice President for Internationalisation. Mr. Kai Franke, Head of the Berlin Office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), then officially welcomed the new scholarship holders and praised their outstanding academic achievements. Ms Laura Paloma Leguizamón-Pineda, a DAAD scholarship holder pursuing her doctorate, gave an inspiring talk about her experiences in Germany so far and provided exciting insights into her everyday research work. In addition, Ms Aleksandra Bobowski-Tosiek, advisor for the integration of international students, presented the university's wide range of support and assistance services. The subsequent get-together provided an opportunity for personal exchange between students, DAAD and university staff.
