Focus on the BTU's modern study programme

The new year had barely begun when around 200 prospective students visited BTU's Campus Senftenberg on 15 January 2026 to find out about the university's Bachelor's study options as part of the Study Info Day.

Prospective students from four federal states

In addition to pupils from Saxony, numerous young people from Brandenburg and prospective students from Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia took advantage of this offer, for example from Dresden, Pirna and the Erzgebirge, Cottbus, Eisenhüttenstadt, Groß Köris, Neuzelle, the district of Elbe-Elster and the Uckermark. They were often accompanied by their parents.

Around 120 prospective students listened to the introductory presentation by Head of Department Christiane Land with basic information about BTU and its locations, the study programmes, internships and studying abroad, applications, admission, student financing and much more.

The foyer of the Konrad Zuse Media Centre was surrounded by many visitors to the study orientation, co-op programme, Institute of Education Sciences and AOK stands. With detailed presentations of study programmes and projects, discussion rounds, laboratory visits and small experiments, visitors gained deeper insights into BTU.

Wide-ranging interest

Visitors showed a wide range of interest and were particularly interested in the primary school teaching study programme. Health-related and natural science study programmes were also the focus of many young people. In addition to the study options at the Campus Senftenberg, the study programmes offered at the Cottbus main campus and the Cottbus-Sachsendorf campus, for example in the STEM and construction sectors and in particular in Social Work, were also in demand, as were the dual study programmes and opportunities for orientation and trial studies.

Praise for the organisation

Magda Barbara Ditscheid from Pirna, for example, was pleased with the exciting information she received about the Biotechnology study programme, but was also interested in the new Life Science and International Health study programme. Ole Niemack from Eisenhüttenstadt felt encouraged in his desire to study to become a teacher at BTU. After a round of talks and a visit to the anatomy laboratory, Jannis Volger from Neuzelle decided to apply to BTU to study physiotherapy. Like his accompanying mother, he found: "The study info day was very interesting and very well organised."
