Pupil university expedition into the world of artificial intelligence

“The Thought Machine: How to Embark on a Journey of Discovery with AI” – this is the title of the next event organised by the Student University of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), which will take place on Wednesday 29 April 2026 at 3.30 pm on the main campus in Cottbus.

Young people in Years 7 to 10 who are interested are invited to attend this fascinating one-hour lecture in the Main Lecture Theatre Building, Audimax 2, Konrad-Wachsmann-Allee 3, 03046 Cottbus. No registration is required.

The speaker is Dr Svetlana Meissner,
a Staff Member at the Chair of Wireless Systems at BTU.

About the lecture

Anyone who has ever wished they could have the answer to every question at their fingertips and own a machine that not only provides facts but is also capable of thinking alongside us should make a special note of this Student University lecture.
Because that is exactly what is happening right now! New AI agents like Gemini are like a compass for the world of knowledge. They can explain complex Physics as if it were an exciting film, or they can help you design your own game concept. In this lecture, Student University participants will embark on an expedition into the world of AI. They will learn how these ‘thinking machines’ are constructed, what they are already capable of today, and how they will shape our future as researchers, artists or developers.

The pupil university

Thepupil University offers interested pupils in Years 7 to 10 the opportunity to understand scientific and technical topics. It awakens a desire to discover and explore. This creates the chance to develop one’s own skills and build on one’s talents. Together with Sparkasse Niederlausitz, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is offering a new and attractive programme in which interested pupils can work on various projects, even in small teams, and consolidate their knowledge on field trips. The Student University takes place on the same topic, once in Senftenberg and once in Cottbus. No registration is required.

Outlook

The German Aerospace Centre (DLR) will be the focus of the next pupil university lecture, ‘Climate protection in industry – How DLR-DI helps to reduce CO2 emissions’, on Wednesday 27 May at 4 pm. Interested young people from Years 7 to 10 are invited to attend in the main lecture theatre of the Konrad Zuse Media Centre, Universitätsplatz 1, 01968 Senftenberg.
