International networking: Teachers from Poland and Hungary visit BTU

Through a series of talks and a guided tour of the campus, Polish and Hungarian German teachers got to know the Senftenberg campus of the BTU and gained a first-hand impression of the high quality of the study facilities.

The visit to the BTU took place on 15 April 2026 as part of a seminar organised by the Central Office for Schools Abroad in Wrocław on the topic of ‘The world of work in Germany’.

The primary school teaching degree programme provided an ideal opportunity to network with international teachers. Furthermore, the approximately 20 participating teachers work at DSD schools (schools that offer the German Language Diploma – DSD – awarded by the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs). Due to their German language skills, their pupils represent an important target group for the BTU’s Bachelor’s degree programmes.

In order to provide them with comprehensive information, presentations were given on both the diverse range of courses offered by BTU and the teacher training programmes in detail. During a tour of the campus, the teachers were shown the opportunities available to pupils by the humanoid robots Ami and Azi.

They also gained an insights into the skills labs for health-related degree programmes and visited the campus library, showcasing the practical focus of teaching and the modern facilities at BTU.

A lively discussion with Mayor Andreas Pfeiffer about the transformation of the former coal-mining region brought the formal part of the day’s programme to a close, after which the participating teachers had the opportunity to visit the fortress and Lake Senftenberg. They will now be able to share their impressions of both the BTU and the town of Senftenberg with their pupils.
