106th Conference of Civil Engineering Departmental Committees at the BTU
A particular focus of this year’s conference is on the topics of sustainability, as well as the ‘civil clause’ and defence research. In various working groups, students are addressing challenges relating to higher education and social policy and developing joint positions. At the opening ceremony, BTU President Prof. Dr Gesine Grande welcomes the participants in the Main Lecture Hall.
The Civil Engineering Departmental Committee Conference regularly brings together Civil Engineering students from across the German-speaking world. The aim is to exchange experiences, further develop Departmental Committee work and provide impetus for studies, teaching and professional practice. For the BTU, hosting the 106th BauFaK is also a visible sign of the dynamism of Cottbus as a centre of science. As a driving force behind this structural change, the BTU is helping to shape numerous research and innovation projects – including in the fields of climate-neutral energy supply, hybrid-electric systems, medical research and energy technologies. With the emerging Lausitz Science Park in the immediate vicinity of the main campus, one of the region’s most significant science and technology projects is also taking shape. Architecturally, too, the university offers visitors insights into innovative building culture: alongside the Information, Communication and Media Centre (IKMZ), the newly completed canteen is also among the current construction projects on campus. The connection between Cottbus and the BauFaK has a long tradition: as early as 2017, the BTU hosted the 89th Departmental Committee Conference.
