Just a few days ago, the student team Lausitz Dynamics secured victory in this year’s Shell Eco-marathon energy efficiency competition. Now, the ‘Energy-Efficient Vehicles’ module, which is offered as part of the General Studies programme, has been awarded the 2025 Teaching Prize by the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

Anyone who simply disposes of buildings after demolition is throwing away both valuable raw materials and the potential to reduce emissions. This is precisely where the work of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Angelika Mettke comes in; for over 30 years, she has been conducting research at the BTU into how building components from demolished buildings can be reused rather than turned into construction waste.

BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is systematically expanding its range of degree programmes in the forward-looking field of rail transport. With a new specialisation within the Civil Engineering study programme, students will be able to acquire rail-specific skills from the 2026/27 winter semester onwards and gain qualifications for a growing professional field.

Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU), together with its partners, is taking the Lausitz Science Park into its next phase of development: following notarisation, Lausitz Science Park GmbH (LSP GmbH) will officially commence operations on 1 July 2026.
