Exhibition ENTSPERRT with designs by BTU students
The recently completed accommodation of a branch of the Federal Archives for the documentation of the Stasi files has given rise to the development of an overall strategy for the site. Against this current background, the exhibition presents seven architectural designs with different visions for the future of the former prison in numerous plans and models. The projects were developed as group work by 34 students in the master's degree program in architecture at the Department of Design and Construction in Existing Contexts at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. In the field of tension between preservation and further building on the one hand and transformation and opening on the other hand, the designs provide diverse suggestions for the further development of the area as a forum for art, culture and democracy. In a panel discussion the projects will be presented and the future development of the former penitentiary will be discussed from different perspectives.
The panel ists will be - Prof. Dr. Johanna Blokker, Head of the Department of Monument Preservation, BTU - Dieter Dombrowski, Chairman of the Human Rights Center Cottbus e.V. - Matthias Loehr, member of the Cottbus city council, Die Linke - Prof. Per Pedersen, Head of the Department of Design and Construction in Existing Contexts BTU - Fred Wanta, Architect Moderation - Sylvia Wähling, Executive Chairwoman of the Human Rights Center Cottbus e.V. and Director of the Cottbus Penitentiary Memorial Site
