"Turn of the times" for urban technology
The past 25 years have not brought half as many changes for urban engineering as the dramatic year 2022. In a farewell lecture, a small glimpse at the challenges for the upcoming complex transformation of urban engineering systems in our cities will be ventured.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Koziol has been head of the Chair of Urban Engineering at the Brandenburg University of Technology since 1997. From 2007-2020 he was vice president for studies and teaching at the BTU. The main research topics and expert activities of the chair are in the fields of energy, water and urban planning. In addition, his expertise lies in the scientific monitoring of topics related to urban redevelopment, the transformation of municipal energy systems, the adaptation of technical infrastructure to urban development and shrinkage processes, as well as subsidy consulting. Prof. Koziol is an expert for various organizations and committees (DFG, BMBF, Ministries of Construction, Austrian Research Promotion Agency, SMI, SAB, TAB, ASIIN, ASAP, AQUAS), jury member in various competitions as well as advisory board member in federal research projects and institutions.
