Day of Teaching 2024: Making academic und student affairs at BTU fit for the future - towards the mission statement for teaching
It's time again!
On June 13, 2024 from 13:00 to 17:30 the 7th Day of Teaching will take place. We cordially invite all students, lecturers and staff members of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg to the Central Lecture Hall Building. At this university-wide event, which this year is being held under the motto "Mission Statement for Teaching", we would like to discuss our self-image, the basic principles and the future viability of academic and student affairs at BTU with all of you who are active in teaching, study at BTU or are otherwise involved in learning and teaching at BTU.
The Day of Teaching offers the opportunity to make current developments, concepts, projects and ideas in academic and student affairs at our university visible, it offers a forum for reflections on the future viability of learning and teaching and the opportunity to discuss the following questions:
- What future skills do students need for the workplace of tomorrow?
- What is the self-image of academic and student affairs at the beginning of the 21st century?
- Which basic principles of learning and teaching are indispensable?
- How flexibly can students and lecturers organize their studies in the future?
This year's two keynote speeches will focus on the topic of the mission statement for teaching, with Prof. Dr. Niels Pinkwart, Vice-President for Academic Affairs at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, reflecting on it and the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Peer Schmidt, and the Head of the IKMZ, Dr. Claudia Börner, addressing it from an internal perspective entitled "After peer-to-peer consultation is before the mission statement for teaching". Afterwards, the central issues of this year's Day of Teaching will be addressed and discussed from different perspectives in two parallel sessions (Session 1: Flexibility and Mobility - Session 2: Future Skills). During a moderated tour of the Market of Opportunities, you will be able to learn about current considerations, teaching approaches and ideas on the future viability of academic and student affairs.
After the presentation of the Teaching Award to the winning module teams of 2022 (Prof. Dr. disc. pol. Alexandra Retkowski and Ms. Heike Bartholomäus with the module Overcoming Borders - Learning from Each Other - Structural Change in Border Regions) and 2023 (Dr. Francesc G. Rodríguez Mansilla with the module How to Talk About "Nature"?), there will be a panel discussion by BTU members and external guests on the topic "Mission Statement for Teaching at BTU". This will be leavened by the improvisational theater RABOTA KAROSHI, which will theatrically rework scenes and situations from studying and teaching.
