AMBER steering committee learns more at BTU

On September 10, 2024, representatives of the AMBER Steering Committee - Additive Manufacturing Berlin Brandenburg - visited the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) to discuss current research, equipment and expertise at the university and its projects.

The AMBER steering committee included representatives from the University of Technology Berlin and the Werner-von-Siemens Center. AMBER also has a strong innovation network for stakeholders from business and science. Both can be important for future, project-related cooperation with research areas at BTU. The meeting also offers the opportunity to further expand networking opportunities in the capital region.

The guests were welcomed by Prof. Michael Hübner, Full-time Vice President for Research and Transfer at BTU.

The focus of interest was on

  • Projects on climate-friendly drive solutions for aviation and the mobility sector at the chesco research factory,
  • the holistic value creation for photonic material technologies in the SpreeTec neXt project and
  • the design of lightweight components and the development of technologies for their production, in particular in the field of additive manufacturing, sheet metal and solid forming as well as hybrid manufacturing processes at the Panta Rhei research center for lightweight construction research.

AMBER - Additive Manufacturing Berlin Brandenburg

AMBER is the 3D printing initiative of the capital region (Additive Manufacturing Berlin-Brandenburg). It is supported by a core of strategic partners and coordinated by Berlin Partner. AMBER pursues the rapid transfer of research results into sustainable and internationally competitive innovations and stands as an umbrella brand for the AM ecosystem of the capital region.

With its highly innovative AM players, major 3D printing conferences such as AM Forum and CDFAM, AM training and cutting-edge research, the aim is to develop Berlin into the top address in Europe as an international platform for new production technologies by 2030.

The focus is on the topics of "medical technology", "lightweight construction" and "additive manufacturing for aerospace". The projects with partners from universities, research institutions and companies from the capital region will run until the end of 2025 and create high-tech innovations "made in Berlin".
