Student guidance and counselling represented at the "International Round Table"
The Central Student Guidance and Counselling Service took part in the International Student Groups Round Table and presented its services there. The aim of the event was to make existing challenges in the everyday life of international students visible and to discuss possible solutions together
As part of the discussion, various problems were addressed, including difficult access to suitable contact persons, full German courses at the start of the semester and issues of social and cultural integration.
The student guidance and counselling service presented its existing workshops and counselling services, which were largely rated positively by the participants - in particular in the area of learning strategies. At the same time, it became clear that individual formats could be further developed in order to better cater to the needs of international students, in particular in the Master's programme.
Ideas for new solutions were also collected together, including more closely networked workshop formats with international and German student councils, cultural exchange formats and low-threshold support services such as tandem language learning or mentoring programmes. The student guidance and counselling service is taking these ideas on board and is currently examining possible implementations in cooperation with other stakeholders at the university.
.
We would like to thank you for the open dialogue and look forward to further expanding our support for international students.

Last weekend, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg's student guidance and counselling service was represented at the "Einstieg Berlin" trade fair. Review of the Perspectives Day in Brandenburg We were there!
On Friday, 7 November 2025, the Perspectives Day took place at the Domgymnasium in Brandenburg an der Havel - a day full of information, exchange and orientation for prospective students. We from the student guidance and counselling team at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) were also there to advise future students. We were available to the pupils from 08:00 to 12:30 - directly in the auditorium of the Dom-Gymnasium (Domkietz 5, 14776 Brandenburg an der Havel). We took the opportunity to provide information about the BTU's study programmes, answer typical questions about choosing and starting a degree course and hold individual discussions.
Many thanks to everyone involved for the successful event - we look forward to welcoming many future students from Brandenburg an der Havel to our university!
